KTMB i-card application

As a student studying away from home, these two cards are very important. I strongly advised everyone to make this.

KTMi-card
With i-card, you can have 40% discount for taking intercity train or ETS service.
Without using i-card, I have to pay RM61 buying ticket online for ticket Butterworth-KL sentral (RM59 fare & RM2 fees for buying e-ticket).
With using i-card, I buy the ticket for ETS Gold at RM35.
Well, after calculated, it is not 40% discount but 35% only though, it is still A LOT)

Besides, you can get 50% discount for taking commuter in Klang Valley.

To apply for this card, I went to KL sentral on 26th February 2016, which was Friday.
I reached KTMB counter at KL sentral 2nd Floor at 8:50am, and the daily quota for application is already reached O.O
I just managed to take a photo like this to remind me well-prepared

Well, Beware that the quota is no longer 300, but OOONLY 200 application

Having researched online, I went for 2nd time on 4th March 2016, Friday.

KTMi-card Application Procedure

  1. Download the application form and student verification form from the official website, KTM Berhad Website for downloading form
*You have to use the student verification form of KTMB. The verification letter issued by your IPTA/IPTS will not be accepted.
  2. Photocopy your Identity Card (IC) and student card
  3. Have RM31.80 in your pocket (RM30 for application fee, RM1.80 for GST)
*The person-in-charge who give you queue number will staple your money on the documents, so preferably NOTES without Coins.
  4. Go to the 9 and 10 counter of Counter, located at Level 2, KL sentral
Working hour for these counter, Monday - Friday, 0830-1900  (stated by other blogger. They do only open from Mon to Fri, but working hour, not sure)
For 2nd attempt, I reached KL sentral at 06:50am and there were already 5 people before me.
about 7:30am the staff giving application number reached. This is the CRUCIAL TIME! When the staff was on her seat, EVERYONE will rush to there and queue, despite the time you reached. If you are slower, you will queue at the back. So when you sit while waiting, pick a seat nearer to the table.
At first, we had 2 queues and merged into 1 after being scolded. so in the end, I was the 12th.
at 8:40am, the quota was reached. In average, 1 card is issued every 6 minutes, from my observation.
I got my card at 8:50 and bought a ticket going home on that day XD

The disadvantage of this card is that you have to go to ticket counter and pay by cash to enjoy the discount.
